LOOKING BACK
The Lincoln TT in Nebraska was featured on
the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago. Dusty
Coppage and Gene Romero battled for the lead
for the first half of the race until Romero made
the pass for the lead and never looked back.
Mark Brelsford was third… California Moto-
Cross Club held a charity race for the Carlsbad
Boys Club at Carlsbad Raceway. Maico-mounted
Lars Larsson won the 500cc Expert class.
A photo from the 500cc National MX in Charlotte was featured on the
cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. Rick Burgett won both motos…
A photo from the Des Moines Half Mile was also pictured on the front
page. Gary Scott edged out Ted Boody for the victory… We also
had coverage of the Black Hills Half Mile, a round of the U.S. Western
Regional Championship. Wayne Rainey won the Junior class… Scott
Burnworth and Rick Hemme were some of the stars at Ponca City.
