Jeff Emig was pictured on the cover 20 years ago for winning
both 250cc MX motos at Spring Creek; Ricky Carmichael
recorded his eighth win of the year in the 125cc class… Scott
Parker won the Quad City Downs Half Mile in East Moline,
Illinois… Nick Wey and Matt Walker were the stars of the week
at Loretta Lynn's MX. Other winners included Bryan McGavaran,
Shae Bentley, Sarah Whitmore, Ryan Morais and Ben Riddle.

Chris Carr winning the Peoria TT and George Holland clinching the
AMA 125cc National MX Championship were pictured on the cover of
Cycle News 30 years ago. Holland took the number-one plate with a
third-place finish at Spring Creek; local hero Donny Schmit was the
overall winner… Wayne Rainey won the 500cc GP at Donington Park,
England… Buddy Antunez and Mike Kiedrowski were the headliners
from Ponca City. Ricky Carmichael won the PeeWee Modified
Championship.
