some gas in the tank there and
felt awesome. I had my bike work-
ing better and I was able to hit my
corners and my marks and my
lines, and that was just fun. That
was awesome."
Tomac now carries a 20-point
lead into the Ironman finale, which
means he has to score a minimum
of 30 points to take home the title
if Musquin manages to win both
motos.
250MX
In order to clinch his first AMA
National Championship, all Aaron
Plessinger needed to do at Budds
Creek was lose less than 22
points to his closest champion-
"It was just settling into a pace,"
Tomac said. "Early, the pace was re-
ally fast, and I just kind of stayed there
and waited, and then about halfway
I thought, 'All right, it's go time, and
we've got to go!' And luckily I had
has what it takes to race outdoors
(and maybe rub it in the Aussie
team's face if he does well).
PEICK DONE
After going 14-9 for 10th overall,
Weston Peick (Autotrader/Yo-
shimura/Suzuki) says he's not going
to wait any longer and have surgery
performed on his injured had that's
been bothering him for a number of
races. He tore tendons in his hand
earlier this season. "Budds Creek
was the last round for me, because
of my hand injury," he said. "The
race didn't go as well as I wanted
it to. I didn't get the best start in
the first moto, but I worked my way
up. The track was hard pack and
bumpy, which took a toll on my
hand. Honestly, it was one of my
worst weekends for my hand issue.
I am getting surgery on Tuesday
to get my hand fixed. At this point
I'm not sure how long I'll be off the
bike."
Marvin Musquin, the
only rider within striking
distance of Tomac in the
450MX Championship,
failed to take advantage of
two golden opportunities
at Budds Creek.
