SURFERCROSS 2018
T
he annual motocross/surfing completion in Southern California, known as Surfer-
cross, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018. The event, which was created by
current Autotrader/Yoshimura Factory Suzuki Team Manager Jeremy Albrecht, ran its
course August 7-8 at Milestone MX and San Onofre State Beach, with the MX portion taking place on
the first day, and the surfing competition the second. Combined results from the two days determined
the overall winners, this time going to the duo of Brandon Tipton and Calen Noble.
The Forrest Minchinton and Ricky Yorks duo got things going with the overall win in MX, but their
surfing skills didn't quite carry over to the ocean. The duo ended up fifth overall. Tipton and Noble cut
their losses in MX with 11th place but stormed back with the victory in the surfing competition for the
overall win, edging out surfing legend Sunny Garcia and his teammate motocross star Mike Brown.
Close behind in third overall was the Justin Mulford and Grant Langston duo.
Albert Mendes and Micah Davis topped the Industry class. CN
