rad Baker, of the Indian Mo-
torcycle/Allstate Motorcycle
Insurance/S&S Team, was injured
while competing in the Harley-
Davidson Moto X Flat Track Rac-
ing competition at the X Games
Minneapolis, July 22. Baker, who
is currently third in the American
Flat Track Twins-class Champion-
ship, suffered a back injury when
he went down during a qualifying
race and was transported to a local
hospital.
Scott Baker, Brad's brother, re-
leased this statement on Monday,
July 23:
"I just wanted to give you an up-
date on my brother. Thank you all
for being so loving and supporting.
I still can't give a whole lot of details
yet because his prognosis is not
final and I want to respect him and
his team's privacy.
"After being rushed to the hospi-
tal yesterday, Brad spent the rest of
the day undergoing back surgery
to repair a multiple fractured T6
vertebrae. The scary part was frag-
ments of the vertebrae damaged
his spinal cord and were putting
pressure on it causing paralysis
from the middle of his back down.
"Good news is his cord was not
severed and the doctors are happy
with how the surgery went repair-
ing his vertebrae and relieving the
pressure. Brad is in good spirits
and is always so thankful even in
the worst of situations.
"Now we walk this road of
recovery with him, praying and hoping for
the best outcome for him. I have no doubt
he will [be] back doing what he loves, but
please continue to give him healing uplifting
strength. Love you guys, thank you." CN
