Sunflower State Series Round 2: D.ogoon Creek /;IX T.ock Self Centered on Mother's Day By DAWN SITZ LYNDON, KS MAY 9 , F o r Mother's Day, Kawasaki jockey Jered Sitz gave his mom three ou t of fo ur ho leshots and two th ird -place trophies. Nick Self, mean while, stayed centered and made it a good day by taking two wins. In the I25cc N ovice class, Sin pulled th e holeshot and wasted no time pulling away from the rest of the pack. However, riding that new four-stroke of his is a little different fro m rid ing his o ld KXI2S , which might just have cost him th e w in. Sit z misse d a gear in a couple of co m ers, and Suzuki riders Nick Self and Robe rt Spears made th e ir way around him, so Sin had to settle for third place . The Schoolboy class looked like a repeat of the Novice class. Sin had a little prob lem , as he was still ge tting used to riding th at new KX2S0 F, . and he missed some gears again, letting Self around once more. Once around Sitz, Self too k o ff and ne ve r lo o ked back, th o ugh he was aware all the w hile that Spears and Sitz were right be hind him, just waiting for a chance to take over the lea d . N evertheless, Self held o n for the win. The 250cc Intermed iate class has seen some switching back and fourt h among the leaders. KTM rider Aust in Workman, who wo n at th e last race, was in the lead this time around , with Yamaha rider Cody Emmert o n his tail , just waiting for a mistake. Workman did everythi ng he co uld to not make that mistake a nd le t Emmert slide by. Workman held on and took the win in the first moto, bu t in t he seco nd moto, he made that mistake tha t Emmert had been waiting fo r : Wit h one lap to go , in the mechan ics' corner, Work man stalled his KTM , and Emmert made his move. That gave Emmert the overall fo r the day. It looks like th ese two will batt le th roughout the series . RfSULTS 50 (4-6) : 1. Braxton Unruh (KTM); 2. Austin Becker (KTM): 3. Cage_ (KTM): 1.
