the ir second laps, with Aaron shaving an amazing 2 1
points from his first lap score wh ile Bell halved his.
On lap three, Spaniard David Chaves failed to make
the massive wall in sect ion three and fell 15 feet back
to the ground , injuring his hee l. At first it was thought
that he had broken it, but he was later told 'that it was
only badly bruised . The Sherco pilot held on to finish
10th on Saturday, but he wisely sat out Sunday's event.
After changing a flat tire on the final lap, Ie Riche
posted 19 third-lap points to finish third for the day, his
best -ever U.S. National finish. Florin, who had turned
in a disappointing second lap, rebounded with 16 on his
third to salvage fourth . Amazingly, Aaron dropped only
four single dabs on loop three to ta ke the easy win over
Bell. who carded a 14 on the final lap. Webb held on for
fifth. posting his best ride to date.
Round four on Sunday featured sections that were
not nearly as big as Saturday's but were a little more
technical.
Aaron dropped two fives on the first lap and anoth er in one of the easier sections on his final lap to take
his fourth Nat ional win in four tries in 2004.
Bell, by his own admission. dropped some "silly"
fives on lap one and was also assessed late points. but
he rebounded on loops two and three to claim second
position, 19 points beh ind Aaron .
Florin had an up-and-down weekend in Co lorado,
turn ing in great rides on one loop. then not-so-good
ones on the next. The Floridian edged out Canadian
Gas Gas rider Wilson Craig for third with Cody Webb
