T
riumph's favorite tarmac
tourer/commuter/play
bike, the 1050cc Tiger
Sport, is getting a thorough work
over for 2016.
The new machine will use
the same engine as featured in
the Speed Triple. The motor is
claimed to produce more torque
than the outgoing model, as well
as reduced fuel consumption.
A new ride-by-wire throttle is
matched to three riding modes
(Sport, Road and Rain); there's
a new slipper clutch, exhaust
system, cruise control and ABS
as standard. Triumph has also
redesigned the footpegs to pro-
vide better support, fitted a new
adjustable windscreen, changed
the shape of the mirrors and fit-
ted new hand guards.
Perhaps the most obvious
change to the old bike is the
new bodywork and styling,
which is far more racy than
before. The Tiger's always been
a bike that can embarrass sport
bike riders in the right hands and
now it's got the color scheme to
match.
We'll have a full test on the
new Tiger Sport in the coming
weeks here at Cycle News.
