VOL. 52 ISSUE 48 DECEMBER 1, 2015 P55 A s one of the biggest vintage motocross gatherings in the country, the 11th Annual Old School MX Reunion and 5th Annual AHRMA Vintage Nationals at Rio Bra- vo MX Park attracts a good number of riders from across the country. But while there were some fast and talented riders—from 18-year-old WMX pro Kaitlyn Morrow to 74-year- old Heinrich "Henry" Gref to former top Pro Trey Jorski and more—the real stars of the show could very well have been the bikes they rode. Some were strictly for show, lov- ingly restored, polished and cleaned to better-than-new condition. Some were, to put it kindly, rough. Most were somewhere in between, bikes resurrected from barns and back- yards, and brought back to life in the 21st century decades after they were state of the art. As with many vintage races, stroll- ing through the pits and examining the various machines present is at least as satisfying as checking out the action on the track, and, yes, there were some classic clashes with, thankfully, few crashes over the weekend. Here are some peeks at the bikes and riders at Rio Bravo. NATIONALS Who won, who lost, it didn't matter (well, maybe it did a little), it was more about the bikes, the history, the stories and the people at the Rio Bravo MX Reunion ROCKS RIO BRAVO Most pits seemed more inclusive; this one welcomes a Sachs, a Penton and three Hondas.
