IN THE WIND P32 EDDIE AGAIN AT OHIO NHRA E agle Harley-Davidson's Ed- die Krawiec continued his domination of the 2018 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season by winning his third event in six starts at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Ohio, June 23-24. In an event that was plagued by rain for two of three days, Krawiec weathered the storm and defeated White Alliga- tor Suzuki's Jerry Savoie in the final. Krawiec got off the starting line first by a huge margin and extended the lead to the finish with a 6.923 at 195.05 mph to Savoie's 7.071 at just 175.39. "This weekend threw us all a curveball because we only got two qualifying runs instead of four because of all the rain," Krawiec said. "Fortunately, my Vance & Hines guys gave me a competitive bike from the start and that helped us tremendous- ly. We made two solid runs in qualifying and then four more on race day to get this done. This was a good race for me because I stayed out of the sand. Two years ago, I was a knucklehead and drove it into the sand in the semi final. Then we went back to the pits and thought we fixed the brakes and then I went into the sand again in the final. I man- aged to avoid that this time. This has been a good weekend for us. It was a bit of a struggle for us early, but we got a handle on the new track and found a way to understand what we need to do. "With all the rain on Friday and Saturday, we had to do dam- age control," Krawiec said. "Our goal was to make sure the bike left the starting line clean and smooth and got into the show.
