ROAD RACE MOTUL FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 8 / JUNE 22-24, 2018 WEATHERTECH RACEWAY / MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA P98 shift at times, with his race-one ninth becoming a race-two seventh. Leon Camier (Red Bull Honda WorldSBK) retired in race one, with a broken gear lever, and then had a slide off in race two. He got going again in the sec- ond race for 13th. With America's PJ Jacobsen (Triple M Honda) falling twice also (once after being hit by Leandro Mercado's VerdNatura Kawasaki, and once on his own under braking) that left the role of top Honda and top American to the slender figure of Jake Gagne (Red Bull Honda WorldS- BK). Tenth in race one, he was ninth in race two, well behind Tom Sykes in the latter, but still scoring well. His best weekend of the year was partly due to track familiarity, but it was two good performances under real pressure in any case. In the overall champion- ship standings Rea has a vast 75-point lead over Chaz Davies, 320 points to 245, with van der Mark 30 points adrift of Davies, on a total of 215. Misano is next up, in two weeks, before the long summer break. CN WORLDSBK RACE 1 1. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 2. Chaz Davies (Duc) 3. Alex Lowes (Yam) 4. Eugene Laverty (Apr) 5. Marco Melandri (Duc) RACE 2 1. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 2. Chaz Davies (Duc) 3. Eugene Laverty (Apr) 4. Alex Lowes (Yam) 5. Michael van der Mark (Yam) It was a good weekend for American Jake Gagne who cracked the top 10 in both races.
