I
t was a hot weekend at Laguna Seca, especially in race day
one, when the track temperatures soared upwards of 100
degrees, causing all but eventual double winner Jonathan
Rea (KRT) to find insurmountable problems across all 25 laps.
Rea had to watch Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Ducati) score the
Superpole win earlier on Saturday, and then take a remarkable
new race lap record in race one—1 minute, 23.041 seconds—
but a challenging first race still delivered "JR" a margin of
victory of 2.978 seconds.
