hit the ground hard, suffering a
back injury that will put him out
of the rest of the series. Cooper,
however, got up and finished
28th.
Alex Martin led the entire
moto until he fell just after get-
ting the two-to-go board and
handed the moto win to Ferran-
dis. Martin got up second, but
lost one more spot only a few
turns from the finish to his team-
mate McElrath. Martin was third
over Sexton, Plessinger, Smith,
Savatgy, Cameron McAdoo,
Forkner and the rest of the field.
The overall went to McElrath
Forkner and Savatgy, Geico
Honda's Jordon Smith and
Chase Sexton, and then Pless-
inger, who came home in ninth.
Colt Nichols returned to action
at Muddy Creek for 10th in moto
one in front of his Yamalube/
Star Racing Yamaha teammate
Dylan Ferrandis and Alex Martin.
Alex Martin got the holeshot
in moto two over teammate
Sean Cantrell, Ferrandis, Bran-
don Hartranft (CycleTrader/
Rock River Yamaha), Cooper,
Smith, Plessinger and Jeremy
Martin. McElrath started just
outside the top 10. Only a few
turns into the second moto,
Jeremy Martin tangled in midair
with a 3-2 score over the 11-1 of
Ferrandis and Sexton was third
overall with an 8-4. Then came
the 12-3 of Alex Martin, his team-
mate Smith (7-6), Savatgy (6-7)
and Plessinger in seventh overall
with a 9-5, just two spots in front
of Jeremy Martin in ninth overall
with a 1-DNF.
"Well, I didn't have a very good
start," McElrath said. "I spun
and got swallowed up. I was
surprised I came out pretty good,
made quick passes, which is
not really like me. My mechanic
just kept putting my times and
said 'keep fighting, keep fight-
ing.' Once I got up, I was like two
[positions] behind Sexton, and
Consistency bought Shane
McElrath the overall win in
the 250MX class.
