LOOKING BACK
Our front-page story was the 100-mile
National Championship Road Race from
Laconia, New Hampshire, where Cal
Rayborn ran off with a commanding
win… We tested the 1968 Bultaco 350
scrambler… J.N. Roberts left everyone
in the dust again in the SoCal desert. His
latest win came at the Prospectors Hare
Scrambles at Red Rock Canyon… Reg
Pridmore was one of the winners at a
Carlsbad road race. He and his teammate
topped the sidehack class.
"Too Tall" Mike Bell and Steve Eklund shared the cover of Cycle News
40 years ago. Bell was the big winner at the Coca-Cola Superbowl of
Motocross VII. It was Bell's first supercross win and it came in front of
62,000 fans in the L.A. Coliseum. Eklund won both the Santa Fe TT and
Charity Newsies Half Mile within a three-day span… We told you what it
was like to ride Bob Hannah's factory OW-38-B Yamaha motocross bike…
