ELI TOMAC LOSES HIS FIRST MOTO

T
he speculation about the "perfect season" is officially
over. For Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin, who ended
Tomac's perfect streak in the first moto at High Point, it
was his best moto of the year, but little consolation as he still
came up just short of his first overall win of the season.
For Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki), if there was
already pressure to bring Kawasaki its second perfect season,
that pressure has now been relieved and he can concentrate on
just defending a championship for the first time in his career.
But in the 250MX class, things are getting interesting. Two-
time champ Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda), had just taken con-
trol of the 250MX National Championship at the previous round
in Colorado, and at High Point, with his second consecutive win
seemingly in the bag, his bike broke. Instead of leaving High
Point with the same eight-point lead he came into the event
with, Martin now trails former teammate Aaron Plessinger, High
Point's double-moto winner, by 20.
The good news for Martin is that he has 16 motos to try and
make up the deficit, but the bad news is that Plessinger now
has two 1-1 performances on the books and he's not going to be
easy to beat.
