ollowing a one-race hiccup,
defending Grand National
Champion Jared Mees (Indian
Motorcycle/Rogers Racing Indian
Scout FTR750) returned to his win-
ning ways with yet another dominat-
ing performance on the Red Mile.
The mile oval developed a tiny,
unforgiving groove that fit Mees'
talents like a glove. "On a track like
this, it was so technical and so im-
portant to carry good corner speed
on entry and through the corner
and not bust the groove," said
Mees. "If you got off that groove,
you were a sitting duck and going
backwards quick. But I kind of grew
up on this stuff, and I guess out of
all the racetracks we race, this is
my specialty."
By recording the fastest time
in qualifying at 37.058 seconds,
Mees positioned himself ideally. As
