But once Tomac found his way by Musquin (cleanly!), it didn't take long for him to close the gap on Anderson. After Tomac passed Anderson for the lead on the second-to-last holeshot there and I was like, 'Damn it man, I needed that,'" said Jeremy. "We battled tooth and nail and AP was able to get through us and make the move happen. The track was a little tough to pass today. Alex and I battled all the way there. I was like, 'get out of the way! [laughs]' I was able to send it in deep and get him on the outside; it was good battle. We tried to run down Aaron, but he was just in cruise control. I was hoping maybe I could catch him off-guard and bring it into the finish." TONED DOWN The original layout of the Glen Helen track had even the top riders on edge because of some of the massive gap jumps, but after some discussions, the questionable jumps were scaled back. After that, most of the riders were pleased with the track. "We saw in Instagram that it was just huge gap doubles," Anderson said. "When it gets rough and stuff, when you're going so high speed, you're battling guys, someone checks up, it can get really dangerous. But [after the modifications to the jumps] I thought they did a great job and the track was perfect for racing. It was maybe a little one-lined but we got passed by Eli so I guess it wasn't too bad." "Typical Glen Helen, it got rough, edgy, hard and soft," said Musquin. "It wasn't too sketchy," said Plessinger. "I think it turned out really good." CRUNCH TIME Jason Anderson admitted that he had little time to prepare for the outdoor nationals. "For the outdoors, the worst part for preparation was that I was so focused on the supercross deal and didn't ride much outdoors, but neither Briefly...
