He got up and rode back to the pits, his day was already over. Meanwhile Roczen took over the lead, and by lap two, the top four MX superstars in the country were running 1-2-3-4, with Roczen leading Tomac, Anderson (who was also the fastest qualifier during the day), and Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM). Tomac pressured Roczen off and on for the first half of the moto, but was willing to bide his time knowing that Roczen's not yet 100 percent, having just returned from a serious hand injury that took him out of the supercross championship. outside of Zach Osborne for the lead early on lap one of the first 250MX moto, then was running fourth in front of Shane McElrath when he washed the front end on exit from the exact same turn a lap later. He got up 23rd and ended up 26th in the moto. THUMB'S DOWN Zach Osborne hurt his thumb during the week between Hangtown and Glen Helen and was worried he may not be able to race, but his thumb felt better by press day on Friday. He rode that day and then put in a solid effort Saturday on a track he doesn't par- ticularly like. "Glen Helen was pretty good," Osborne said. "I had a couple mistakes that cost me, and carried a bit of an injury in, but it was a decent weekend. I'm glad to get out of here unscathed and I'm ready to make my way to some good tracks." BATTLE OF THE BROTHERS Alex and Jeremy Martin had a good battle for second place late in the second 250MX moto. Alex held his younger brother off for six laps before Jeremy got by him, making it an Alex/ Jeremy 2-3. "Man, AP [Aaron Pless- inger] was riding really well today," Alex said of the second moto, where he took the holeshot. "I knew I was going to have my hands full and then pretty much had second until the last couple laps. I saw Jeremy come and I saw his pit board. I never looked back, but I saw the pit board and knew that it was Jeremy, and he was going to be strong all the way down to the end. So I was just pushing, pushing. Some of the lappers kind of made trouble for me, but overall I'm happy to go 3-3 for second overall." "Alex got the Briefly... Ken Roczen led much of the first 450MX moto before Tomac came calling.
