t took two days to get it done, but Illinois' own Jeffrey Carver (Roof
Systems/Indian of Metro Milwaukee Indian Scout FTR750) won the
Springfield Mile in dominating fashion. Carver led 19 of the 25 laps
and won by over eight tenths of a second which is a rather large lead
by Springfield Mile standards.
Originally scheduled to run Sunday afternoon, a sudden rainstorm
brought activities to a halt midway through the first AFT Twins semi. No
doubt spawned by the oppressive heat that engulfed the Illinois State
Fairgrounds, a light sprinkle grew to heavy rain and wind. The storm
