LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 2 / MAY 26, 2018
GLEN HELEN RACEWAY / SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA

450MX
Four motos into the 2018 Lucas
Oil AMA Pro Motocross Champi-
onships, and some people have
already started talking about the
"perfect season," as they always
do when a racer starts out with
four moto wins in a row. Defend-
ing 450MX National Champion,
Tomac, won both motos at Glen
Helen and wasn't even really
challenged all that much on his
way to the two victories.
Christian Craig (Honda HRC)
grabbed the holeshot in moto
one just in front of his teammate
and former two-time 450MX
champ Ken Roczen, and about
half a lap later, Craig went down
hard when he failed to get all
CRAIG'S EARLY EXIT
Christian Craig pulled a monster
holeshot in the first moto, only
to crash big time before the first
lap was over. He got up and rode
back to the pits, where he called it
a day. "It didn't go at all how I had
hoped, obviously," Craig said. "I
felt pretty good all day, qualifying
sixth and getting the holeshot in the
first moto. Halfway through the first
lap, I went down pretty hard and in-
stantly knew my knee was hurt. I'm
just so bummed because this is the
third year in a row that I've gotten
hurt here and it's frustrating. Rather
than feel sorry for myself, I'm going
to work on coming back stronger."
The next day, Craig's doctor gave
him the unfortunate news that he
suffered a torn ACL in the crash
and will have to undergo surgery.
TV TIME
Speaking of Craig, on Friday morn-
ing, Christian Craig arrived at Glen
Helen Raceway early for a press
appearance with KTLA Channel 5
News, a major Los Angeles area
station. Craig was featured in three
segments with reporter Erin Myers,
including a learn-to-ride piece dur-
ing which he showed her the gen-
eral controls on a CRF125F before
assisting her while she rode.
