FOR TWO AT
MOONSHINE
OMA
T
he Moonshine XC, round two
the OMA Pro-Am Nationals,
was held at the Kirkpatrick fam-
ily land in rural Memphis, Mis-
souri, May 19-20. Cody Barnes
(Barnes Yamaha Moose/Kenda)
took the win with a gap of 24
seconds over Logan Lowrey
(Moose/Kenda Husqvarna), with
Cole Zuidema (Moose/Kenda
KTM) rounding out the Pro-Am
podium.
Barnes said, "The bike ran
great the whole day. I got off
to a great start. I got bumped
on the inside by someone and
about went down. I dropped
back to sixth or seventh right off
the start. I had to fight my way
through the dust for the first two
laps. Once I got out and saw that
Logan [Lowrey] wasn't too far
ahead of me, I knew I needed to
push and catch him, and we did.
Then me and him just went at it
the whole rest of the race."
"I passed him in one of the
field sections," Barnes added,
"and he just kept me honest the
whole way. He wouldn't let me
pull away. It was good to have
someone there to push me. A
couple sections where lappers
would hold me up, he would
close the gap back up and I
had to push. It was good. I had
a great time and it was a great
track, so all in all, it was a good
day."
"It was good, for sure," said
Lowrey. "This place is always
pretty wide open, and that is
different from the National En-
duros. I know I was at a little bit
of a disadvantage. Cody, he's a
GNCC guy, and he is really good
at this stuff.
"I was able to pull a good start.
Cody had the holeshot, then
he got hit from behind." Lowrey
knew Barnes would have some
traffic and dust to deal with, as
Cody Barnes was
the overall winner
at the Moonshine
XC OMA in
Missouri.
