IN THE WIND P54 We tried them—so far so good! DUNLOP INTRODUCES NEW GEOMAX MX33 TIRE D unlop's MX3S tire has been the most popular MX knobby in the compa- ny's lineup since its intro- duction a few years ago and is the tire of choice among most pro and amateur mo- tocross racers in the U.S. Despite a dominant position in the market, Dunlop just introduced the completely new MX33 as the replacement for the MX3S. The MX33 targets soft-to- intermediate terrain but, like the MX3S, it is expected that many riders will use it on a wide range of surfaces. The goal for Dun- lop with this tire is to improve the long-term durability without sacrificing any performance. To do this, the MX33 includes tie- bars between the blocks, a new rubber compound and a new tread design. That tread design includes a new Block-In-A-Block shape on the rear and is also now used on the front tire. The new rear tread pattern also in- cludes a total of 72 knobs versus 66 on the MX3S. That, com- bined with the Block-In-A-Block, is said to provide more edges to improve traction. We got the opportunity to test the new MX33 tires at California's Zaca Station MX last week and felt that they provided good perfor- mance. We did not yet get enough time on them to know if the goal for increased durability has been achieved, but we will be putting more time on them in the coming weeks. The MX33 tires should be available in dealers any day. For more information, visit www.dun- lopmotorcycletires.com. CN Dunlop introduced its new MX3S replacement tire—the MX33. It's designed to perform like the MX3S but wear longer.
