GOODBYE ARENACROSS, HELLO
SUPERCROSS FUTURES
T
he Amsoil Arenacross Cham-
pionship is a thing of the
past, soon to be replaced by a
new way of preparing young rac-
ers for the big leagues. Instead
of Arenacross, Feld Motorsport—
the organizers of the Amsoil
Arenacross Championship—is
going to promote what it calls
Supercross Futures.
Supercross Futures will fea-
ture amateur supercross races
to be held on the Sunday fol-
lowing select Monster Energy
AMA Supercross rounds, such
as the Ricky Carmichael Day-
tona Amateur Supercross. Feld
hosted four similar races in 2018
and will conduct eight in 2019.
These events will be designed
to help young racers prepare
themselves for professional AMA
Supercross racing while earning
their pro license.
Details of Supercross Futures
have not yet been announced.
Buried in a release from Feld
recapping the 2018 Monster
Energy AMA Supercross Series
read: As Monster Energy Super-
cross continues to celebrate
major milestones, the unveiling
of Supercross Futures, an AMA
Amateur National Champion-
ship, will transition Amsoil Aren-
across into the new Supercross
Futures amateur events as we
continue to improve the overall
quality of Supercross. Building
upon the success of 2018's
four Supercross Amateur Rac-
ing events, which averaged
over 700 entries, the ground-
breaking Supercross Futures
concept will introduce eight
amateur racing events in 2019
and provide greater access to
the sport's largest stage to fur-
ther hone their skills on full-size
Supercross tracks, while also
allowing top amateur athletes
to earn Road to Supercross
points toward their professional
AMA Supercross license.
Jacob Hayes will have the dis-
tinction of winning the last Amsoil
Arenacross Championship. CN
The Arenacross
Championship
has been shelved
in favor of the
new Supercross
Futures, an AMA
Amateur National
Championship.
