into neutral. It would shift all up and
down, but it would skip neutral. I was
able to mess with it a little bit and get
it in and I popped into neutral to pull
up to the line. I didn't get a good start
at all. I'm not known for getting good
starts. Someday when I figure out my
starts, maybe I'll be a threat."
NOT IN IT
After a big crash in Fort Worth and go-
ing through the concussion protocol,
Brad Baker is trying to get his season
under control. "All together, we got
beat as a team. The bike could have
been better, I could have been," said
Baker. "Just didn't have the full pack-
age tonight. Relatively speaking, com-
pared to last weekend, it's a lot better.
I got a top five and I didn't get beat by
any slouches, by any means. I'll take it
and we'll learn from it and move to the
next one. We'll stay optimistic. Life in
general for me in the last month hasn't
been that great. My head hasn't been
in the game. I've been attending to
family issues; I've been hurt. I've been
all over the place. The focus hasn't
just been on racing. To be at this
level of the game and to win a grand
national championship, your head has
to be 100% in the game, pretty much
every day. I just haven't had my life
structured as good as it needs to be.
We're getting back there."
LAPS LED
After 100 laps of main-event racing in
the AFT Twins class Jared Mees has
led an impressive 86 laps. Brad Baker
is second with six laps led, while Briar
Bauman and Jeffrey Carver have each
led four. Ironically the only rider other
than Mees with an official win is Kenny
Coolbeth, who has not led a lap.
Coolbeth's Woodstock, Georgia win
came as the result of Mees' disquali-
fication.
Briefly...
Sammy Halbert (69)
leads Brad Baker (6)
in a heat race. Halbert
went on to finish ninth
in the main, the only
H-D rider in the top 10.
