SUPERCROSS 2018 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS ROUND 17 / MAY 5, 2018 SAM BOYD STADIUM / LAS VEGAS, NEVADA P56 iii My Own Race: 3 ELI TOMAC 1ST 450SX "It was tough," Eli Tomac said of the main event. "Dancing in the whoops every lap, trying to decide whether you were going to skim them or jump them. Our starts were on point the whole time. The heat race start was almost too good, I almost overshot the turn there, the main was just right. Overall, I'm happy with the way we rode and the way things worked out here." There was a section at the end of the sand whoops that he managed to gain some time on runner-up Marvin Musquin. "That thing was honestly kind of scary to hit [considering] how fast we were going into it. That's why I actually stopped doing it after I did it a couple of times." 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 2ND 450SX "I knew it was going to be a tough main event," said Marvin Musquin. "My start was awesome but Eli was a little better. My goal was to keep charging and to keep pushing; we both made mistakes and we pushed hard and came up second. I made a little mistake with the lappers the rhythm before the finish and lost contact with Eli, then the gap stayed the same pretty much till the checkers. I did my best." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 1ST 250SX "It was a difficult race for me," Adam Cianciarulo said. "I don't know what it was on the starts today but for some reason I just feel like I wasn't getting the same bite like right off the gate, like I wasn't getting a lot of bottom-end for whatever reason. Maybe it was me just on the clutch…but mentally I was just trying to get to the front. I wasn't trying to settle or be consistent, or be smart; I was just kind of focused on the front. It was almost nice to be in the back and sit back and see where I was maybe a little better than some of these guys. I was happy to make some executions; I had to pass some world-class talent, so it was one of the better wins of my career, for sure." 28 SHANE MCELRATH 3RD 250SX "Tonight was one of those racers where it was a little tougher to start in the front," said Shane McElrath. "I didn't know where they were catching me, but I knew they were catching me in some areas and it's tough to control a race when you're doing that. It was nice to be out front, I felt good out front and I pulled the holeshot, I haven't had one of those in a while, so we had a lot of positives from the day." 15 DEAN WILSON 8TH 450SX "The last round of SX was really a tough weekend," Dean Wilson (Rock- star Energy Husqvarna) said. "I've been dealing with nagging injuries all season and last weekend I injured my thumb from something that wasn't my fault, so that was kind of frustrating because I was riding with pain all day. Seventh overall in the series is not that great of a result but I finished the season. I know I'm better than what I did but injuries kind of held me back this season."
