GRANT BAYLOR TAMES THE DRAGON IN VIRGINIA I t wasn't pretty, but Grant Baylor managed to overcome an ugly ride to tame the Dragon's Back National Enduro held at Oak Ridge Estates in Arrington, Vir- ginia, May 6. The Tely Racing KTM rider struggled throughout the day with tip-overs and near tip-overs, but still managed to win three tests and beat out his brother and team- mate Steward Baylor for the win by 52 second after six tests and 55 miles of racing. All that, despite being just two weeks removed from surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand. "I was struggling all day long," said Grant. "I just wasn't riding like I should, I crashed three times in the fifth test and twice in the last test. But I won, so obvi- ously I made fewer mistakes than everybody else. This year has been an uphill battle for me, with the broken hand and all. But I just rode my race and kept trying to smooth out a bit, and I guess I did just enough." Steward, on the other hand, IN THE WIND P24 Grant Baylor did what it took to win the Dragon's Back National Enduro in Virginia. PHOTOGRAPHY BY DARRIN CHAPMAN Steward Baylor kept it in the family for second overall.
