CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 16 APRIL 24, 2018 P93
Cantrell ran third during the
opening grip of laps, but a fall
late in the race handed third to
Kyle Peters (AutoTrader/JGR
Suzuki), who suffered a torn
ACL and MCL in his left knee
last week in Minneapolis.
As the laps wore down, Mar-
tin showed back up near the
front, ripping off the fastest lap
times on the track on his slightly
bent CRF250R. Martin passed
top privateer Josh Osby for fifth
with just a few laps left, then
zapped Cantrell for fourth with
two to go. With a gap of about
eight seconds between himself
and Peters in third, Osborne put
asked about what he likes about su-
percross, he replied, "What I like most
about your sport is how extreme it is,"
Gronkowski said. "The dirt-biking,
jumping the ramps, how high in the
air they are getting off the jumps. The
jumps, I walk up to them on the field,
they're 25 feet high! I'm like this when
I'm on the field like, 'Woooowww. Like,
this is what they jump?' And how far of
a gap they jump in between the jumps
on the landing, on the other side of
the hill, it's just crazy. It's extreme.
That's what makes it so great!"
HAPPY IS FAST
Jason Anderson has trained with
Marvin Musquin, Ryan Dungey and
others, for the past few years in
Florida at Aldon Baker's "The Baker's
Factory," but this year he has spent
a lot more time in California. When
asked about that after the race in
Foxborough, he said that California
just feels more like home to him, and
he made it sound like the grind was
wearing on him. "Sometimes it feels
like you just train, go to bed, wake up,
train, ride." Anderson said. "And I'm
not saying I don't do that, but I was
able to go home to where I like, and
eat dinner at a restaurant, and hang
out with my friends and stuff like that,
and try and make it a little bit nicer. But
I still worked really hard. I'm not saying
I didn't work hard or anything, but,
yeah, I feel like it worked out."
Briefly...
Zach Osborne
(1E) finally got a
good start but not
as good as Sean
Cantrell's (43).
