SUPERCROSS ROUND 15 / APRIL 21, 2018 GILLETTE STADIUM / FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS P86 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS iii My Own Race: 45 JORDON SMITH 2ND 250SX EAST Jordon Smith was fast in Foxborough, just not quite fast enough. "I rode good in the race," Smith said. "You know, I struggled all day really, really bad. The track is just absolutely brutal out here, you know? The faces are rutted, there's rocks, the whoops, there's just a rut right in the middle. And the shadows are bad, and the wind's blowing, so it was tough out there. I rode really good, and I wanted to catch Zach [Osborne] and at least put some pressure on him so bad, and I was riding as hard as I could. It's tough when you're this close to the championship to give up three points to Zach, so we're going to need some help in Vegas. But it's a good day. Second place is always good." 76 KYLE PETERS 3RD 250SX EAST Kyle Peters injured his knee in Minneapolis, went to the LCQ in Foxborough, then won it. Then he went into the main, where he grabbed his second-ever podium finish. "I'm speechless!" Peters said. "I can't believe how the day ended consider- ing how much pain I was in on Saturday morning. During track walk I knew there were some rhythm sections that I wouldn't be able to do, because my left knee obviously isn't strong. I struggled in practice and qualifying. After the final ses- sion, we put more tape on my knee in order to stabilize it. I was very tentative in the heat race, as I was worried about my knee. The goal was to put as little time on the bike as possible, but I didn't qualify through the heat race. I won the LCQ, which loosened me up and provide the confidence I needed. I got a really good start from the outside and was sitting in fourth for a while. I told myself that I was going to crash out before I would settle for fourth place, because I had nothing to lose. I made it happen." 21 JASON ANDERSON 3RD 450SX Jason Anderson rode a consistent race in Foxborough and landed his 11th podium finish in 15 rounds, and he's very close to clinching his first 450SX title in Salt Lake City next weekend. "My race was pretty boring tonight," Anderson said. "I was all by myself, so it sounds like there was some action up front, and they smoked me tonight, but all in all, I feel like I had a good night and got some points. The track, I did not feel comfortable all day, but that's no excuses, the guys were faster." 34 WESTON PEICK 6TH 450SX "It was an early day in Foxborough, with a lot different feel in showing up for track walk at 6:30 a.m.," said Weston Peick of his day which ended with another strong finish. "The whole experience was interesting, because it was an open stadium and the sun was in my eyes quite a bit. That made it challenging to hit some of the obstacles on the track. I qualified very well in comparison to how I normally do, and that set the mood for the main event. I got caught up in traffic in the heat race and finished fourth. For some reason, I was super delayed coming off the line when the gate dropped for the main event, so I was basically playing catch up. The track was very soft in spots, with pebble rocks everywhere. I made my way up to sixth place, which was good considering where I was after the first lap." 27 MALCOLM STEWART 7TH 450SX "The day went well," said Stewart. "It was the first day race I had this season, which was different. The weather wasn't too bad, because I've been staying in North Carolina and getting used to the cold temperatures. I'll admit that I was yawning in the first practice while hitting the rhythms, because I was tired from waking up so early [laughter]. My heat race went off around the same time as the normal afternoon supercross qualifier would go off, so that was strange. Still, racing during the day was cool, aside from the sun being in my eyes when I was jumping the triples. I was happy to finish seventh."
