IN THE WIND P38 battling. With the great condi- tions out there, it was really fun! It was a little intense at times, but it was good." Though "only" 92 miles total, it took Robert three hours, 46 minutes and 22 seconds to com- plete with Norman 24 seconds back. A somewhat distant fourth as he headed out onto the second loop on his Precision Concepts/ O'Neal Racing YZ450FX, hav- ing had to back off and regroup after fighting to regain positions following the off-course excur- sion many took, Burson admit- ted, "They told me [at the pit] I was two minutes down and to just cruise it in. I just struggled with following the course today. Usually, it's not a problem out here. I caught Dalton and he was just putting, then he looked back and I didn't think I would get him. He took off, it was dusty [by that time] and I just kind of rode. I think he was trying to go way too fast. It was the same finish as the hare scrambles [here last year] and we did, what, 12 laps that day? So I kind of had a little advantage and knew we were going to be making a hard left soon. He kind of went and blew it and I cut through the bushes. I left it pinned and we hit pretty hard. He almost got me back; we hit hard a couple times. It was like moto to me—I'm used to banging bars." Burson finished in 3:50:56 with Shirey a disappointed fourth, just one second back on his Motorex/ Fly Racing FX 450. SRT Husqvarna's Ryan Smith finished five minutes back for fifth—his best result in two years—followed by Beta's Chance Fullerton who won the FMF Pro 250 class for the third straight round. Amsoil Suzuki-mounted Taran Taylor, Chidester Transport Rac- ing Yamaha's Daemon Woolslay- er (the FMF Pro 250 runner-up), ADS Motorsports KTM's Josh Knight (third FMF Pro 250) and SRT Husqvarna's Clayton Gerst- ner rounded out the top 10. Brandy Richards won Women A for the second consecutive round aboard her Bell Helmets KTM 350 SX-F and finished 26th overall after starting last. Utah native Rachel Stout and points leader Britney Gallegos rounded out their podium. Afterward, Robert admitted, "I was feeling it. I was pretty worked and my wrists were really sore. As soon as I got back to the truck, I put ice on them—they were already swollen up." But he has two more weeks before round five, which will also be at Jericho, though hosted by the Sugarloafers Motorcycle Club. Mark Kariya OVERALL 1. Taylor Robert (KTM) 2. Kendall Norman (Hon) 3.
