MAKING PROGRESS
Danny Eslick reported things are com-
ing along well with his new ride on the
Hayes Brakes BMW team. The Day-
tona 200 winner is gradually getting
used to his bike and new team and
feels he'll continue to make progress
as they get more races under their
belt. "The bike is good," Eslick said of
the BMW S 1000 RR. "Like anything
there are things we have to work out,
but the power is good, the electronics
are great. The only problem I'm having
right now is some handling issues. It's
the quick flicks from one side to the
other that it doesn't seem to do well.
But we're working on it and finding
things out with the bike with every
session. I'm pretty confident we can
get up there and mix it up with the big
boys before too long."
LATE START
Josh Herrin said the biggest obstacle
facing the Attack Performance Yamaha
squad right now is the late start. The
team didn't even come together until
February Herrin said and then the
team's transporter broke down en-route
to Road Atlanta, so he didn't get to ride
the bike there, using his R1S street
bike instead. Then, in the first session
at COTA on Friday, he faced problems
with the clutch on the Attack Perfor-
mance Yamaha R1. "We're still getting
the bike together as you can see. We'll
get through this weekend and get a lot
of data," Herrin explained. "Once we
have that, Richard [Stanboli] will be
able to go back and crunch the data
and we'll get everything dialed in. I think
we should be totally up to speed by the
next round at VIR."
TOTALLY DIFFERENT

Elias came home over a minute behind in
fourth, ahead of Jake Lewis (M4 Ecstar Suzuki),
Kyle Wyman (KWR Yamaha), Garrett Gerloff
(Monster Energy/Yamalube Yamaha Factory Rac-
ing), David Anthony (Fly Street Racing Kawasaki),
Bobby Fong (Quicksilver/Lexin Moto/Hudson
Motorcycles Yamaha) and Barrett Long (Thrashed
Bike Racing LLC) completing the top 10.
Race Two
The second MotoAmerica race couldn't have been
held in more different conditions to the first, with
blazing sunshine drenching the track late on Sunday
afternoon.
Elias was in no mood to repeat that minute-
plus defeat suffered on Saturday at the hands of
Race one was a deluge, with Josh Herrin (2)
barging through to an early lead.
