IN THE WIND P56 saki) pulled out of the race with a clutch issue, and in the second moto, Gautier Paulin (Husqvarna) dropped out with a mechanical issue after placing fourth in the first moto. Herlings leads the champion- ship with 241 points, followed by Cairoli with 225, Febvre with 169, Desalle (165), Paulin (147) and Glen Coldenhoff (140), who went from 15th to sixth in the second moto. MX2 saw the Spaniard, Prado, pull back a few points on champi- onship leader Pauls Jonass. Prado won both motos while Jonass kept the damage to a minimum in the first moto by finishing second. It was the second moto that cost Jonass after getting off to a slow start then crashing while trying to make up for it. He ended up sev- enth in the moto for fifth overall. Second overall went to Thomas Kjer Olsen (Rockstar Husqvarna), followed by Jed Bea- ton (Kawasaki) and Ben Watson (Yamaha). American Thomas Coving- ton pulled out of the first moto with a knee injury and did not return for the second. "I got off to a great start in the opening moto and quickly found myself in second position," Covington said. "My pace was good and I really wanted to battle for the win in the first race. Six or seven laps into the moto I hit a soft spot as I was going into a turn and hurt my knee. There was a lot of mud in some places and that made things harder. It's the same knee I hurt at the end of last season at the Motocross of Nations and the pain was too much to con- tinue. Right now I am not exactly sure what the extent of the injury is. We will get it checked with my doctors first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully we can start making plans for my return to the races soon." Jonass now leads Prado by a small 14-points margin, 216-202 in the MX2 championship. Olsen is third with 185 points. CN Jorge Prado (61) leads the way in MX2 en route to a 1-1 romp.
