HASLAM, BYRNE TOP BRANDS HATCH
BRITISH SUPERBIKE
T
he second round of the Brit-
ish Superbike Championship
was held at the Brands Hatch
Indy circuit, April 14-15, and it
was the old war horses of Shane
Byrne (Ducati) and Leon Haslam
(Kawasaki) who took the wins in
a dry/wet weekend.
Championship round-one win-
ner Bradley Ray took second to
Byrne in race one but could only
manage seventh in the damp
race two. Byrne came home in
fourth in race two.
Haslam made up for the
disappointment of race one's
fourth with a win in race two from
Ducati's Glenn Irwin and BMW's
Michael Laverty.
In the Superstock 1000 series
Andy Reid took race one on his
Aprilia with Billy McConnell com-
ing back for the race two win on
the factory Suzuki.
The Supersport category saw
Jack Kennedy (Yamaha) take
both wins with American James
Rispoli (Yamaha) a popular sec-
ond in race two. CN
