Aaron Plessinger – a former GNCC racer whose father, Scott Pless-
inger, is a multi-time GNCC and hare scrambles champion, and is
well-experienced in riding in less-than-ideal conditions—was domi-
nant on his way to extending his points lead in Seattle.
Plessinger led every lap of his heat race to start the night, win-
ning by nearly 58 seconds over Justin Starling (AJE Motorsports
Husqvarna), and then in the main event, he did it again, grabbing
the checkered flag in the shortened main event by 33 seconds
over Chase Sexton (Geico Honda) and Adam Cianciarulo (Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki).
Upon taking the checkered flag, Plessinger celebrated by doing a
belly-flop into a trackside puddle.
"That was a sick race," Plessinger said. "It reminded me a lot of
a lot of GNCCs, so it was good to get out there and have some fun
and ride some ruts. There was some times where the ruts were
two-feet deep and you just had to pick a good line. We were getting
down to the plywood down there. I got off to a great start. Got the
holeshot and just ran away with it. I knew I could do it here."
Early in the race, Plessinger was chased by Cianciarulo's team-
mate Joey Savatgy, who went down on lap two and remounted
nearly dead last. He ended up 12th.
Shane McElrath (TLD/Red Bull KTM) assumed second when
Savatgy went down, but he had his own mishap with two laps left
With his background in
off-road racing, Aaron
Plessinger made the
Seattle mud look like
just another day at the
races en route to the
250SX West main win.
Adam Cianciarulo
used his long legs to
his advantage in the
250SX main.
