Stewart also got a bad start
but mostly because he dove to
the inside of the second turn
and found himself facing a large
puddle of water that ruined all his
tear-offs. After that, he buckled
down and held steady in third,
just holding off the resurgent
Chaparral Motorsports/Preci-
sion Concepts Kawasaki duo
of Blayne Thompson and Justin
Seeds, Thompson just two sec-
onds shy of Stewart at the finish.
By becoming the first repeat
winner of the season, the Bell
takes the series points lead for
the first time this season, his
total now at 90 while runner-up
Shirey's total now stands at 86
with Stewart on 85. A crash sent
previous points leader Eric Yorba
(FMF/Maxxis/RPM Racing KTM)
to the hospital with a shoulder
injury and no points, the same
for Kailub Russell (FMF KTM
Factory Off-Road Racing Team)
who elected to stay on the East
Coast where he finished a close
second at the Steele Creek
GNCC.
Justin Jones (Monster En-
ergy/Lava Propane Honda) lost
fifth to Seeds on the final lap
to finish sixth overall while Clay
Hengeveld (Chaparral Motors-
ports/Precision Concepts Kawa-
saki) earned seventh overall and
the WCGP Pro II victory (his third
of the season) after coming from
the second row.
Beta's Mason Ottersberg,
Nick Burson (Purvines Racing
Yamaha), who had to replace the
rear-brake system and was 51st
on the first lap, and Vet Expert
winner Brad Goolsby rounded
out the top 10 overall.
