BRADLEY RAY'S DREAM 2018 START
B
radley Ray will remember the
opening round of the 2018
British Superbike Champion-
ship at Donington Park, March
31-April 1, for the rest of his
life after sensationally taking a
double victory on the Buildbase
Suzuki, his first race wins in the
BSB Series.
20-year-old Ray took the first
victory of the 2018 season after
a race-long scrap with veteran
James Ellison and current se-
ries champion Shane Byrne in
fully dry conditions, but it was
his race two exploits that were
even more impressive, as he
streaked away to a 3.5 second
victory over Leon Haslam and
Dan Linfoot.

Ray got off to a flying start in
race two's drying conditions,
leading the race from start to fin-
ish, despite initial pressure from
Linfoot and Byrne.
Haslam was determined to
make amends for missing out on
the podium in race one and he
made his move on Linfoot on the
eighth lap, powering ahead and
defending hard before edging
out an advantage to bridge the
gap to the chasing pack and try-
ing to close down Ray. Haslam
had to settle for second, but it
was a positive end to his home
race weekend for the JG Speed-
fit Kawasaki rider.
In the Supersport class, Aus-
tralian Ben Currie took a double
win on the Gearlink Kawasaki,
Billy McConnell (Suzuki) and
Andy Reid (Aprilia) shared the
Superstock 1000 wins and Ryan
Vickers (Yamaha) took the Su-
perstock 600 gold. CN
