Throwback
Thursday: Down and
Out in Peoria
Our dad took us every year
back then. We saw Mert Law-
will go in the creek, Kenny
Roberts set a track record that
stood for years until Brad Hurst
on a Triumph beat it, Sonny
Burris win on his crop duster,
Steve Wise on his Honda MX
bike, Scott Pearson using the
hill out of turn four like a berm.
So many memories.

250cc Dual Sport
Shootout
Yamaha has two 250cc dual
sports. The other one [XT250]
is a great bike for shorter riders
and beginners. Maybe test it
also next time.
Martin Wolf
How about the KTM 250 EXC?
It might be double the price but
you get 10 times the bike. And
almost 100 pounds less.
Terry Heath
I enjoyed your recent piece on
the 250 dual-sport scooters. I
own a KLX300 and your com-
ment about slow warm-up made
me laugh. I actually thought
something was wrong with my
bike when I first bought it as it ran
like crap for the first 15 minutes
until reaching optimal tempera-
ture. A jetting change cured it.
Thanks.

Yamaha Electric TY-E
The future of trials could be
bright. Do it Yamaha, bring it
into production.
Al Banta
Well, they kept the weight
down. I wonder what the bat-
tery range is.
Brian Thieme
All you need is a mannequin
and remote control and you've
got a full-size RC bike.
Gilbert Morrow
Has anybody heard of a speed-
way model being prototyped or
already produced?
Ty Richey
Suzuki/Yoshimura's 40th
Yes! Bought my first Yosh stuff
in '79. An 870 kit with cams
and exhaust for my '77 Suzuki
GS750. That along with 29mm
smooth bores made it very fast.
