CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 55 ISSUE 12 MARCH 27, 2018 P55
Behind Musquin's best
winning margin he's ever had
came a list of racers with their
best finishes of the season:
Dean Wilson (second), Broc
Tickle (fifth, matching his
season best), Malcolm Stewart
(sixth), Benny Bloss (eighth),
Chad Reed (ninth), Tyler Bow-
ers (11th) and Kyle Cunning-
ham (12th).
The 250SX class marked its
first East/West Shootout of the
year (there will be three total)
and, rather than one of the
usual suspects taking the win,
it was Geico Honda's Jeremy
MARTIN DOCKED
After winning the 250SX main event,
Jeremy Martin learned that the AMA
docked him seven championship
points for jumping while the red safety
lights were being displayed. "From
my perspective I came around the
turn and I didn't see the medic flag
waving," Martin said. "I saw the lights
on the triple. I'm like, 'I think those are
red.' So I rolled the face of it, and then
I looked and saw that the area was
clear and there was no medic flags
after that, and then I doubled it. It was
an honest mistake. There's not much
to say other than that." As a result,
Martin is 19 points (instead of 12)
behind third place Jordon Smith in the
250SX East Championship.
MORE SHOOTOUTS
This was the first 250SX East/West
Shootout that didn't take place at the
final round. Zach Osborne liked it. "I
think it should be a 17-round series,"
he said. "The racing in the [250cc]
class is as good as any and there
are a lot of teams at the high level
that can make it happen. There is no
reason why we can't race each other
every weekend." "When you put us all
together, it's world-class talent," said
Adam Cianciarulo. "I'm with Zach." "I
thought it was a little funky to have the
West guys coming into after a long
break," said Renzland. "[But] I think it
should happen more often." "I liked it,"
said Aaron Plessinger. "It's definitely
a change; I liked racing these guys,
it was fun. More in the future would
be pretty cool." "If we're going to do
it, we should do it for the whole year,"
Jeremy Martin said.

450SX
Musquin got the holeshot
to start the main event, with
Tomac hot on his heels, while
series points leader Jason
Anderson (Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna) found himself
down in the first turn along
with Cooper Webb (Monster
Energy Yamaha), Tyler Bowers
(Monster Energy Kawasaki)
and Blake Baggett (Rocky
Mountain ATV-MC KTM).
With the two most skilled
rut-riders in the field out front,
they quickly began putting time
on the rest of the field, but at
around the halfway point, the
pace finally got the best of
Tomac, who went down hard.
He was down a minute and 15
seconds, and the fall handed a
massive lead to Musquin, who
