Husqvarna) grabbed third place
in 2:33:43 after crashing on the
first lap and playing catch-up the
rest of the afternoon.
"I'm so excited! I've been
wanting to win for a while and
finally got an AMA West Hare
Scrambles win," Oliveira said. "It
was an intense race the whole
time."
That's because besides
Kamo, Oliveira and his Motorex/
DP Brakes/Klim-backed 350
XC-F also traded the lead with
SRT Husqvarna teammates Clay-
ton Gerstner and J.T. Baker.
"After I pitted, I kind of got a
second wind going on," Fac-
tory Connection/Decal Works/
Klim-sponsored Kamo said. "I
pushed a little harder and harder
each lap, looked for better lines
and worked my way to the top.
On the second-to-last lap I was
right behind Dante, but I had no
clutch. I got him in a couple dif-
ferent places and we went back
and forth a few times. It was
a great battle with him. Unfor-
tunately he got the lead back
about a mile from the finish be-
cause I had no clutch and stalled
it at the bottom of a ravine."
After finishing third aboard his
Kenda/Motul/O'Neal Racing FX
350, Hart revealed, "Honestly,
I just wanted a top five! At the
start of the race I had a really
big crash—my bike cartwheeled
and landed on me. I guess I
was back in eighth, ninth, 10th
somewhere and I got stuck in a
massive rut and I had to pull my
bike out the whole way. I swear
I was in last at that point. [After
pitting], I just rode as hard as I
could; I finally got into my groove
and I just charged all the way to
the checkered flag and third was
what I had today."
The 21 points he earned for
third gives him 101 after four
rounds, with Oliveira's total now
81 while reigning series champ
Max Gerston sits third at 64.
Beta's Gerston finished a
strong fourth in 2:38:22 aboard
his Motul/Kenda/6D Helmets
390 RR after a not-so-great
start, though the end result far
exceeded last week's at round
three when he was sick.
"Being from Arizona, all this
white stuff and this runny wet
stuff is not really familiar to me,
but I still had fun out there," he
