HEALING UP Honda's Ken Roczen says his hand, which he broke in Cooper Webb's back wheel at the San Diego Su- percross, is healing up well. He has one more surgery and should be back on a bike soon. "I'm going to have surgery in about two and a half weeks," Roczen said. "Hopefully be riding in a few weeks. We're moving in the right direction." GOOD ADVICE Adam Cianciarulo was given a bit of advice before his return to the starting gate in Indianapolis from pro golfer and moto-familiar sports per- sonality Ricky Fowler. "Special shout out to my buddy Ricky Fowler," Cianciarulo said. "He texted me this week and said, 'don't be scared to fail' and that was my mindset all day. I went into practice, had a couple bad falls and just kind of laughed it off. I'm here to race, I'm here to have fun and I'm here to do my best. We did that tonight. Best was a sec- ond. Let's get on top of the box in Seattle." DOWN AND OUT Chase Sexton (Geico Honda) had a tough night and didn't finish the 250SX main. "Indy was a bit of a roller coaster," said Sexton. "I felt good all of practice and was ready to bring it to the night show. I got a bad start in the heat but worked my way through the pack to fifth. In the main, I got another bad start and was close to last. As I was mak- ing my way through, I kept making mistakes and actually went down twice. I ended up messing up my front brake. We tried to fix it mid race but it kept locking up so I wasn't able to finish. Really bummed on how the night went since I felt so good during the day." CRAIG CRUMBLES It was a quiet night for the Honda HRC Team. Both of its original team riders, Ken Roczen and Cole Seely, are still out with injuries, and fill-in rider Christian Craig was off the radar all night. He finished out the night 16th in the 450SX main. "I'm really disappointed in how tonight went," Craig said. "I just didn't ride like myself at all and it's so frustrating because I've been working so hard, both physically and mentally. I got a terrible start, which put me in a bad position from the beginning, then I crashed twice. This is not the result that I wanted for myself or the team." WHARTON RETURNS Texan Blake Wharton came out of retirement and picked the 250SX East/West Shootout to start his comeback. Wharton rode well on his IB CORP Racing/Eterra/Skidsteer Solutions Yamaha, and qualified for the main event through 250SX West heat race via a sixth-place finish.
