SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / MARCH 24, 2018 LUCAS OIL STADIUM / INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA P64 for third, which took quite a while. But once by, he caught Renzland over the course of about five laps, then snuck by on the final lap to snatch sec- ond place. Renzland hung on for the first podium of his career, just in front of Smith. Plessinger went to work from the back of the pack, and he passed racers by the handful for the first few laps until he got inside the top 10, then his advance slowed somewhat. Still, Plessinger hung on for fifth, and he extended his points lead over Cianciarulo's teammate Joey Savatgy, who had a couple falls in the main event and ended up 10th. As for Osborne, he was battling front-brake prob- lems during his advance through the pack, and he still managed a seventh-place finish, just behind his closest title rival, Forkner. In the end, despite the bad start and brake problems, Osborne lost only one point to Forkner as the series heads for its first weekend off, then the West picks back up in Seattle a week later. CN (Above) Blake Wharton made his long-awaited return to racing after retiring. Wharton ran as high as eighth in the 250SX main before slipping back to 14th. (Left) Luke Renzland, a top amateur rider just a few years ago, got on the 250SX podium for the first time.
