WILD WALLY TOPS CHILLY EAST HARE
SCRAMBLES
B
elow freezing temperatures
did not stop 470 racers from
attending round three of the
SRT/AMA East Hare Scrambles
Championship, which also acted
as round one of the AMA/D-6
Hare Scramble Series, in
Berwick, Pennsylvania, March
24-25. The crew at Evansville
did a phenomenal job at combin-
ing technical trail, MX, SX and
Enduro-X all in one package. For
the spectators, it was like watch-
ing four different events at once.
In the main event, the battle
started from the get-go between
last year's number-one plate
holder "Wild" Wally Palmer
(Husqvarna) and ECEA regular
Tegan Temple (KTM). Behind
them were 12 of the East Coast's
fiercest AA competitors. By the
end of the first lap, it was Temple
holding off Palmer by only a
few seconds. The two would
continue this battle, swapping
positions for the lead no less
than four times by the halfway
point. Behind them in third
position was Pennsylvania's D-6
regular Hunter Bush, aboard
his Yamaha. Making a late-race
charge was Pennsylvania's Jar-
rett Mohn.
With two bar-to-bar battles
taking place, one for first and
the second for third. One could
see a wave of spectators moving
from section to section in antici-
pation of the next pass.
On the third lap, Bush would
drop back and McDonal would
move into fourth. By the white
flag lap, not much had changed
other than the track conditions,
which were becoming dustier.
Lappers were also becoming a
factor. Palmer and Temple would
fall victim to a three-bike pile up,
with Palmer managing to get up
first.
Palmer eventually held on to
take the checkers followed by
Temple.
Mohn got on the podium with
third.
In the Youth event, it was Mad
Max Fernandez aboard his Mile
Hill Cycle KTM in the 14-16 Su-
per Mini class, and first overall
followed by Brayden Nolette and
Kyle Grenewicz.
In the Junior class, it was
Rock Hound Racer Austin
Tsakanikas aboard his JT Cycle
KTM with a first place, followed
by Ryder Sigety and Carter
Przemelewsky.
In the Pee Wees ranks, it
was fellow Rock Hound Racer
Mason Tsakanikas from the
50cc Open class taking the win,
followed by Fun Factory Cobra
racer "Lil" Johnny Probst and
third going to Nick Moretti.
