450 rider said. "I tried to settle
down and get into a good pace
and get rid of the arm pump.
On lap three, I got into a good
zone and just started plugging
away. The next thing you know,
people were saying, 'You're in
third!' 'You're in second!' I'm like,
'What? I didn't even pass any-
body!'"
After overshooting the pits and
losing time pushing his Suspen-
sion 101/FMF/THOR-sponsored
GasGas XC 300 back to the
entrance, Noah Kepple demon-
strated both competitive speed
and endurance in claiming third
in only his second hare scramble
and his first time at Gorman. Bet-
ter known as an EnduroCross
specialist, Kepple said, "It was a
cool change of pace for me [to
race here]. It's my second [hare
scrambles] ever and my first time
on the podium so I'm stoked to
come away with that."
Beta's Mason Ottersberg
finished 55 seconds behind
Kepple for fourth place. Early in
the race, Ottersberg was 13th
after falling while trying to pass
teammate and defending series
champ Max Gerston (who was
sick with the flu and could man-
age only a couple laps before
calling it a day).
GasGas rider Travis Coy
claimed fifth, just two seconds
behind Ottersberg, followed
by SRT Husqvarna teammates
Clayton Gerstner and J.T. Baker,
Devan Bolin (Gray Area KTM),
FMF Pro 250 winner Jeremy Wil-
ton (Gray Area KTM) and Justin
Bonita (Monterey Powersports
Yamaha).
Earlier, FMF KTM Factory
Off-road Racing Team's Kacy
Coy dominated the morning
race overall in winning Women A
over Gina Alvarez (Bell Helmets
Yamaha) and reigning class
champ Sharon Mowell (Fly Rac-
ing KTM).
In Saturday's Big Wheel/Mini
85cc/Junior Mini race, Seven
Diaz (Racer Decal KTM) led from
the start aboard his KTM, but
eventual runner-up Zach Kerling
(NorCal Motorsports KTM) was
never more than a couple sec-
onds behind. Shane Heywood
(Six Five O KTM) rounded out
the podium.
Mark Karyia
Jeremy Wilton
dominated the
FMF Pro 250 class,
finishing ninth
overall, and giving
him the class points
lead with a 1-3-1
record so far this
season.
Kacy Coy made her first
Women A start of the
season a winning one.
