place in the XC2 250 Pro-class
points standings.
"I didn't get the best start, so
I just charged all day but it was
tough because Pascal [Rauche-
necker] was riding really fast,"
said Kelley. "I would catch him
but then I'd make a mistake and
he'd pull away. I was finally able
to get around him and get the
win, and I'm pumped. It's good
to get another win."
Ashburn put his Beta into
seventh overall, while Coastal
Racing Husqvarna teammates
Layne Michael and Pascal
Rauchenecker were eight and
ninth, respectively. Grant Baylor
(Tely Energy Racing) rounded
out the top 10.
Sterling, Illinois, rider Cody
Barnes topped the FMF XC3 125
Pro-Am class, beating out former
AMA Hare Scrambles National
Champion Jason Raines (Raines
Racing Yamaha) and Jesse Ans-
ley (KTM) for the win. Raines led
at one point, but came up just
three seconds short of the win,
as Barnes claimed his second
podium finish in three races.
Tayla Jones overcame some
drama on the third lap of the
Women's XCW race to claim
her third win in a row for 2018.
Jones battled on the final lap
of the race with Becca Sheets,
but managed to cross the finish
about 30 seconds ahead of her.
Rachel Gutish (Beta) rounded
out the podium another 10 min-
utes back.
"I got off to a good start and
for a while I was just riding by
myself," said Jones. "On lap
three, I got stuck in a mud hole
and then I had another drama
right after that so Becca caught
right up to me. Becca got by me
in the field, but I was able to get
back around her and take the
win." CN
