MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 10 / MARCH 10, 2018
DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY / DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA
P62
250SX EAST
Jordon Smith was a champi-
onship contender in the 2017
250SX East Series, and he may
have had that championship
locked up if not for a massive
crash at the series finale in Las
Vegas. As such, he came into
the 2018 series with high hopes,
and has left most of the first few
rounds disappointed. He scored
two sixth-place finishes in a
row at the opening two rounds,
grabbed third overall in Atlanta's
Triple Crown (with 3-4-6 finish-
es), but he came out swinging in
Daytona.
Smith qualified third at Day-
tona, then won his heat race
and was awarded first gate pick
in the main event, promptly
grabbed the holeshot and took
off, leading every lap on the way
to his first win of the year.
"I mean, I was getting off to
a great start," Smith said. "And,
you know, the track was ex-
tremely tough out there today.
Mentally, physically, everything
about it, you know. It's a great
feeling to be back on top. It's not
been the start that I wanted to
the season but we're getting it
rolling now."
Jordon Smith made
the Daytona track
look easy en route
to a wire-to-wire win.
