SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 9 / MARCH 3, 2018 MERCEDES-BENZ STADIUM / ATLANTA, GEORGIA P64 250SX EAST Although the Atlanta Supercross, in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, marked the second Triple Crown event of the year, it was the first for the racers in the 250SX East. In the first of the three main events, fast qualifier Martin Davalos (Monster Ener- gy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki) got out to the early lead, then tossed it away on his own out front, hand- ing the lead to Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna). Osborne held on to win over Dylan Ferrandis (Monster En- ergy/Yamalube/Star Racing Ya- maha), Jordon Smith (TLD Red Bull KTM), Davalos's teammate Austin Forkner, Ferrandis's team- mate Colt Nichols and Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda). In the second main event, Forkner got out to the early lead while Osborne and Davalos fought over second. Nichols was one of a few racers down in turn one, and his teammate Ferrandis hung up his footpeg on a Tuff Block on the face of a triple and was ejected spectacularly, land- ing feet-first on the face of the third jump. That ended his night. Osborne chased Forkner down, then put a wheel in on Forkner in the first turn, but down the ensuing rhythm lane, their paths came together in the air, causing Osborne to have a scary crash and a resulting con- troversy as to who crossed over
