HERLINGS TAKES MXGP OF ARGENTINA OPENER T he glorious track in Patago- nia, Argentina provided an idyllic backdrop for the opening round of the 2018 FIM Moto- cross World Championship at the MXGP of Patagonia, March 3-4, which culminated in a last- lap pass by Jeffrey Herlings on Antonio Cairoli to take the MXGP overall. After the Italian, Cairoli, won a close first moto, he appeared to be cruising to the second moto win before a couple of mistakes allowed his Red Bull KTM team- mate to close right up. With the one-lap board out, Herlings swept past his rival in what was a real statement of intent from the young prodigy as he looks to stop Cairoli from winning his 10th world title. The pair were well clear from the rest of the field, that was only really miss- ing the top contender of Team HRC Honda's Tim Gajser after the 2016 MXGP Champion had a hard crash at a pre-season race in Italy. Instead, the next best rider IN THE WIND P42 If round one of the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship in Argentina is any indication, it could be a two-horse race for the crown between teammates Antonio Cairoli (222) and Jeffrey Herlings (84).
