his teammate Alex Rins eighth,
also showing well in all this year's
tests as a new engine gives the
GSX-RR a boost, even as the
team reverts to "concession"
status, allowing extra testing and
more engines.
Then three Ducatis—Petrucci,
Lorenzo and Miller—completed
the top 11 on combined times,
ahead of second factory Honda
rider Dani Pedrosa. A fall on the
first day left the Spaniard nursing
a painful left hand for the rest of
the test.
Petrucci earned the notice
of his rivals, running a full race
simulation on day three, almost
all at sub-1:55 lap times. He
said it was his first ever of such
runs "Before I always crashed or
broke the bike."
In a reversal of fortunes,
Franco Morbidelli (VDS Honda)
was top rookie, placed 13th
overall, finally eclipsing the usual
top rookie Taka Nakagami (LCR
Honda), who was 21st.
