SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS ROUND 8 / FEBRUARY 24, 2018 TAMPA, FLORIDA / RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM P66 21 JASON ANDERSON 3RD 450SX Eight races into the 2018 series and Jason Anderson has three wins, a second place, two third-places and two fourth-place finishes. That, along with injuries and DNFs by many of his main rivals, sees him with a massive points lead—before the series is even halfway over! "This track was tough," Anderson said. "There was not a lot of traction to gas it by guys, and I put myself in a bad spot off the start, but Eli and Marv are riding really good, and I really want to be up there battling them. I want more wins. They're not making it easy, but I'm looking forward to battling it out the rest of the year." 29 MARTIN DAVALOS 5TH 250SX EAST Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Martin Davalos was really beat up after his first-turn fall last week in Arlington, but he showed up in Tampa to take his heat-race win and qualify first for the main event. A bad start landed him fifth on the night, but that's still a vast improvement over his DNF from round one. "It was really good to be able to get back out there and race," Davalos said. "It was a tough week, but I was focused and knew I wanted to ride. I love racing in Florida and the track was really fun. It will be nice to build on this weekend." 47 JIMMY DECOTIS 10TH 250SX EAST "I felt a little bit off in the beginning of the day and struggled to get into a groove," said Autotrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki's Jimmy Decotis. "Things started coming together in the final practice. The heat race went really well. I worked to fourth place. I had a really good jump off the gate in the main event, but missed a shift halfway down the straightaway. Someone crashed in the second turn and I did all I could to avoid his rear wheel, which was spinning pretty fast. Unfortunately, my front wheel hit his rear wheel and I went down before I knew what was happening. I laid there so that I wouldn't get hit by the rest of the field, and then picked up my [bike]. I put my head down and charged as best as I could. It's unfortunate stuff like that happens, especially after finishing on the podium last weekend, but that's why we race nine rounds."
