pelvis was fractured in multiple spots, along
with his tailbone. He will be out indefinitely.
With teammate Ken Roczen's injury two
races before Tampa, Honda's now out of
racers, so either the team will sit out for
a while, or possibly call up Justin Brayton
from the Motoconcepts team, who's on fac-
tory stuff right now anyway. Also a possibility
is borrowing a racer from the Geico Honda
team like Christian Craig, who filled in for a
few races in the past.
BOWERS STEPS IN
Former Arenacross Champion Tyler Bowers
filled in for the injured Josh Grant on the
Monster Energy Kawasaki Team. Bow-
ers transferred directly out of 450SX heat
one with a sixth-place finish. In the main
event, Bowers rounded the first lap in 18th
and worked his way up to 14th place at the
checkered flag. "Today went well," said
Bowers. "I felt super comfortable on the
factory [bike] as soon as I hit the track in the
morning and felt I rode well all night. I had
a great heat race, but didn't get the start I
wanted in the main and ended up finishing
14th. Overall, I think it was a great weekend
and can't thank Monster Energy Kawasaki
enough for giving me this opportunity."
KNICH OUT
Action-sports apparel and equipment brand
Knich is no longer a part of the Yamaha
factory race team. It was just a few months
ago in November that Knich was announced
as a co-title sponsor of the team, but this
turned out to be a very short marriage.
Yamaha made the announcement on Febru-
ary 21: "It is with great disappointment that
Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., has
terminated Knich's sponsorship agreement
with Yamaha Factory Racing, effective im-
mediately." The announcement was made
by Keith McCarty, Motorsports Racing Divi-
sion Manager for Yamaha Motor Corpora-
tion, U.S.A. CN
