VOL. 55 ISSUE 8 FEBRUARY 27, 2018 P75 4. Xavi Flores (Duc) 5. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 6. Alex Lowes (Yam) 7. Leon Camier (Hon) 8. Eugene Laverty (Apr) 9. Michael Van Der Mark (Yam) 10. Leandro Mercado (Kaw) RACE TWO 1. Marco Melandri (Duc) 2. Jonathan Rea (Kaw) 3. Xavi Fores (Duc) 4. Tom Sykes (Kaw) 5. Alex Lowes (Yam) 6. Leon Camier (Hon) 7. Michael van der Mark (Yam) 8. Jordi Torres (MV) 9. Loris Baz (BMW) 10. Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kaw) The top four were only 1.556 seconds apart, but Sofuoglu was nowhere near when the flag dropped, having felt a vibration from his rear tire, and being worried it may go on him like it did the day before. He was 13th, finally. Changes to the three-cylinder Triumphs of the Profile Racing Team allowed Luke Stapleford to show himself as top triple rider, comfortably ahead of the MV of Raffaele De Rosa. Yamaha may be the current best bike to have, however, with the top four all on R6 models. CN RACE ONE 1. Marco Melandri (Duc) 2. Tom Sykes (Kaw) 3. Chaz Davies (Duc) tough year in WorldSBK was strong. Mahias, pole man as well as the race winner, said, "This is the best way to start the new season. The difference from last year is that I am not stressing the bike; I play with the bike. With the new rules we do not use the throttle blipper, and I return to the old style of downshifting and I am playing with the bike." For Krummenacher, a Kawa- saki race winner at PI in his debut season in 2016, second was okay in a sprint race. A great first outing for Sandro Cortese (Kallio Yama- ha) despite his demotion on the starting grid, saw him third overall, winning a last lap battle with Caricasulo that had the crowds gasping at the photo-finish. Despite his results, American Jake Gagne was generally happy with his performance in Australia.
